3 of 5 calls booked — April

I'll show you exactly where AI fits your business. In 30 minutes. Free.

Ten years shipping software at SaaS companies. I've watched every SMB I advise waste money on AI tools that don't touch their actual workflow. I spend 30 minutes walking through how you operate, then hand you one concrete action you can take this week — no pitch deck, no jargon.

What you leave the call with

Who this is for

You run a real business. You just don't have a tech person.

You're doing $1M–$20M in revenue with no internal tech or AI lead.

You're in trades, professional services, retail, or hospitality.

You looked at hiring an ops person this quarter and paused.

Your team uses ChatGPT but nothing has actually changed.

The offer

Three steps. The first one is free.

Start with a free 30-minute call. Only pay if there's real opportunity to act on.

01Step 01

Free call

30-min Zoom. I walk through how your business runs. You leave with one concrete AI opportunity you can act on this week. No obligation.

Free

02Step 02

Written plan

3–5 highest-priority AI opportunities, rough ROI estimates, implementation notes. Delivered within 5 business days.

$500 pilot (normally $1,000) — free if no real opportunity found

03Step 03

Retainer

Ongoing implementation support once the plan proves value. Only offered after step 2.

$1,500–$3,000 / month

What the call looks like

30 minutes. Three parts. One action.

You can see the shape of it before you book. No surprises, no credit card, no 14-step onboarding form.

0115 min

I walk through how your business actually runs day-to-day.

Who does what, what tools you pay for, what eats the most time.

0210 min

I map where AI genuinely fits — and where it doesn't.

Specific workflows, not generic use cases. I’ll tell you if there’s nothing there.

035 min

You leave with one concrete action you can test this week.

A named tool, a named workflow, a rough ROI. Not a slide deck.

04After

No follow-up sequence. No upsell if there's nothing there.

If the plan in step 2 makes sense, we talk about it. Otherwise we don’t.

Common questions

Heard it before.

We already use ChatGPT.

Most teams do. The gap is connecting it to your actual workflows so it replaces hours, not just answers questions.

We're not a tech company.

Neither are most of my clients. This isn't about building software — it's about stopping the time leaks.

I don't have budget.

The call is free. The plan is $500. I'll only charge if it surfaces real opportunity — otherwise it's on me.

What I answer

Every business owner asks the same three things.

01

Strategy

How is AI going to affect your industry? What are your competitors already doing? Let's make sure you're not caught flat-footed.

e.g. your three biggest competitors now respond to quotes in under an hour. Yours take two days.

02

Capability

What roles are you looking to hire for? What tasks eat the most time? AI handles that for a fraction of the cost.

e.g. your admin spends 6 hours a week reconciling invoices. That's a $30k/year task.

03

Education

What if you got 20% more productivity out of your existing team? That's not a tech project — it's training people to think differently.

e.g. your top salesperson uses AI to prep for every call. The other four don't know it exists.

Prior consulting work

Founders I've previously advised.

These are from earlier advisory and product work, before this specific AI offer. Same operator. Same way of working.

Tom is a really calm and well-measured guy. He has a wealth of experience and is super helpful working through product, strategic and commercial challenges. Really helpful insights around technical product strategy and integration frameworks.
AngeFounder, Flohh
It helps fill a gap in our busy schedule to confirm additional insights in a non-core area of focus that we just don't have time to investigate.
DannyHead of Product, QuickCare
When you're deep in product development, it's easy to overcomplicate things. Tom helped us focus on what really matters and gave us a clear path forward. I wish I had done this a lot earlier.

FAQ

Questions I get before the call.

If yours isn't here, just ask on the call — or email me first and I'll answer before you book.

What happens to my data during the call?

Nothing leaves your laptop or mine. I take notes on paper during the call and send you a short written summary after. No screen recording, no shared drives, no AI training. If you want a mutual NDA before the call, send one over and I'll sign it.

Do I need any technical staff to implement this?

No. Every plan I write is designed for non-technical teams. If an idea genuinely needs a developer, I'll flag it up front and tell you roughly what it'll cost in time and money. Most of the wins I find are wiring existing tools together — Zapier, Make, a bit of Claude or GPT — not custom software.

What if my industry is niche or old-school?

Most of the patterns repeat. Quoting, scheduling, admin, customer comms, invoice reconciliation, supplier back-and-forth. The details change, the shape doesn't. I've advised trades, marketplaces, property, ed-tech and professional services. If I can't see an honest opportunity in your business, I'll tell you on the call.

How is this different from hiring a consultant?

Most consultants sell retainers on day one. I sell one concrete action first. If that's useful, a written plan for $500. If the plan proves out, only then we talk about a retainer. You never pay for a conversation that doesn't surface real work for you to do.

What tools will you push me to buy?

None. I don't take affiliate commissions or partner kickbacks. The tools on this site are what I've personally shipped with. If your stack is different, I'll work with what you've got. If you genuinely need to buy something, I'll tell you exactly what and why — usually it's under $100/month in software.

Tools I actually use

I'll recommend what I've shipped with.

No partnerships. No affiliate deals. If something on this list isn't the right fit for your business, I'll tell you.

Who's behind this

Tom Ulman

Tom Ulman
Tom UlmanFounder, AI Done Right·South Coast NSW

I've spent a decade shipping SaaS as a developer and operator. I bought waitlist.emailafter its ProductHunt launch, used AI to rewrite its onboarding, took sign-ups from 0.65% to 10.7%, and sold it. Before that I built Python automation inside Reading Eggs that returned 128+ team hours a year, every year. I've advised founders at Flohh, SwappingChain, QuickCare, and others on technical and commercial strategy.

I don't sell hype. I show you what's actually possible for a business like yours, using the same tools I've shipped with myself.

Past results

Receipts from things I've shipped.

Two examples, both mine, both real. Ask me about either on the call.

waitlist.emailAcquired, ramped up, sold
15×sign-up conversion lift

I took over waitlist.email after a viral March ProductHunt spike that converted at 0.65%. Rewrote the onboarding quiz and outreach using AI-driven strategy. April–May hit 10.7% — a 15× lift. Then sold it.

Reading EggsInternal automation
128+team hours saved per year

While at Reading Eggs I built Python automations for repeat internal tasks across the team. Conservative estimate: 128+ team hours returned every year, every year, compounding.

If there's nothing there, you'll know in 30 minutes.

So will I. No follow-up sequence, no upsell. If the 30 minutes surface a real opportunity, we'll talk about step 2. Otherwise that's the end of it.
